- The Porsche 356 was the first car from the German company Porsche. Designed by Ferry Porsche on the mechanical basis of the Volkswagen beetle (for the sake of economy) and designed by Erwin Komenda, it will be produced in series from 1948 to 1965.
- Initially available in coupe, convertible and speedster, the 356 has experienced many changes during its production. Its power will culminate in 155 horses with the 356 Carrera 2000 GS/GT (engine version 587/2 with sport exhaust).
- The creation of the 356 “Speedster” version, late 1954, was made at the request of Max Hoffman, the importer Porsche of United States who wanted a version less expensive and more racy of the 356 for the American market.
- In 2011, automotive experts believe that it is only half of 76 000 copies made of the Porsche 356.
